Mobility and the non-ego workout

Mobility can be described as a joint’s ability to move through its full range of motion (ROM) by activating the required muscles needed for the job. It is a combination of joint structure and muscular function. Flexibility is simply the stretch capacity of a muscle. They are not the same. Don’t get confused. So if you want to improve your “flexibility” you will fare much better to focus on mobility drills that challenge joint structure with the neural feedback and muscle activation required to accomplish full active ROM. This type of exercise isn’t fancy and certainly doesn’t feed the ego but is an absolute must if you want to increase strength, power and speed safely and make gains in the gym, improve sport performance and extend longevity.

So dig into the small stuff if you want big results and less injuries.
